Alkaline Membrane Solid Electrolyser technology is the most innovative and still relatively unknown. The basic principle and process scheme are the same as PEM technology, but in this case, charge transport is guaranteed by OH- ions as in traditional alkaline technology, combining the advantages of the latter (mainly the presence of more affordable components) with the advantages of PEM technology (mainly the possibility of obtaining high-pressure hydrogen).

How does it work

The Alkaline Membrane Solid Electrolyte (AMSE) is the most innovative but still the lesser known technology. The basic principle and the process scheme are the same as the PEM technology, but in this case the charge transport is guaranteed by OH- ions as in the traditional alkaline one, combining the advantages of the latter (mainly the presence of cheaper components such as membrane and catalysts) with the advantages of PEM technology (mainly the possibility of obtaining hydrogen at high pressure and high purity). The hydrogen obtained from these systems has a high degree of purity and high pressure without the need for post-purification and post-compression systems.
