The Solid Oxide electrolyser is one of the most efficient electrolysers amongst the electrolyser portfolio and is capable of co-Electrolysis with CO2, which is used to produce alternate green fuels. World-wide there is a lot of traction for Solid Oxide technology which is emerging as an important technology for Green Hydrogen, Ammonia and alternate fuel generation.
Under applied electrical potential and high temperature (700- 850 ÂșC), SOEC splits water (H2O) into hydrogen (H2) by transferring oxygen ions (O2-) through a solid ionic conductive membrane that after recombining with electrons to form oxygen molecules (O2). Based on the electrochemical reaction, SOEC is possible to split carbon dioxide (CO2) to carbon monoxide (CO) or mixtures of water and carbon dioxide (H2O+CO2) to generate specific synthesis gases (mainly CO and H2) for subsequent processes
